Future Farm Technologies recently announced the acquisition of 120 acres in Amity to start farming Hemp. Plans to lease over a thousand more acres in the area would make it a giant compared to other licensed hemp farms in the state.
In a short telephone interview; Derek Ross, the farm's operator, said they are in the very beginning stages of the project. He emphasized the employment aspect for the area, "There is still quite a bit of site work yet to be done, clearing, stumping, and field prep. We would like to use local contractors for this work." Future Farm also plans to employ all local people and will provide training for their employees. Employment will be seasonal at first with the possibility of becoming year around as the project continues.
